  1. I left the UK in early December to continue my travels & to explore the parts of Australia I hadn't had time to visit before, it was a fantastic journey and with it I bought back many happy memories.   I am now back working in my Studio and due to demand will continue with encaustic workshops/classes until the end of 2018, new Spring workshops will begin from my old Studio, I am busy trying to build a new Studio but this takes time and weather permitting!.  I am also hoping to be settled... at last.... in a new fully equipped Studio where I am able to run larger groups for both local artists and those who travel here from around the world!.

    If you would like to join me in the Studio and learn something new or perhaps you are already an artist wishing to use an ancient technique to enhance your current work.

    I have had several artist contact me just recently who would also like to take a second day encaustic painting workshop to learn the wonderful techniques with Photo-Encaustic, using your own images you can enlighten and enhance your work using digital images, coloured pigments and mixed media. A day in my studio to work on your own projects with access to all equipment and tools including waxes and collage material.  Bring your own boards or available to purchase.  Limited to 4 peoe Mainly for local people as these drop in sessions are flexible and will be run throughtout the year by special request.  Come and be inspired and enjoy sharing your time with like minded people. Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas full of joy, just to confirm that I am now taking bookings for new Encaustic Mixed Media workshops running from April onwards all places for February and March are now booked, if you are looking to try something new for Spring and want to get creative then this is the medium for you.  Lusciuos bees wax melted then fused onto birch wood panels to create a wonderful piece of artwork combining mixed media such as graphite and charcoal, pigments and collage or why not combine your digital images and embed them into wax, enhance your photographic images using coloured pigments, such a versatile medium with endless possibilities.

Why not join me in the Studio for some hot wax painting - learn a new skilll and master the techniques of working with bees wax and coloured pigments, learn how to incise and embed into the wax using various heat tools - working in a contemporary style creating seascapes and abstract landscapes.  Learn how to incorporate mixed media using charcoal, ink, graphite and rust!.  I will also be offering a two day Intensive workshop where you will be able to explore and experiment with photo-encaustic, print making, collage and organic materials, join me on the second day visiting the Jurassic coast where we will be inspired by the natural world - take in the sea air and collect items of interest to use within your art work, if you are a keen photographer you will be able to take photographs which can then be combined with encaustic!.  For further information on all my workshops please email info@bluebirdsatdawn.com or telephone 07714196584.

    I am inspired by the Jurassic coastline of Devon/Dorset where I live, I am also a keen traveller this year my work has been influenced by my recent trip to Iceland and later this year I will be travelling to Australia where I am sure I will be gathering inspiration for my next project.  I am a keen photographer and work from both sketch books, memory and images which I have collected from my journeys of exploration.

New classes begin in October for one on one intensive encaustic and mixed media workshops,  you will learn how to apply hot molten wax and you will learn how to fuse the many layers required before the creative process can begin, you will learn which supports and grounds to use, materials and equipment required for encaustic painting, we will cover the following techniques - incising, embedding, how to create texture, how to use transfers and orginal drawings with encaustic, collage, printmaking, we will also cover the basic techniques used with photo-encaustic along with many other technqiues and methods using mixed media such as charcoal and graphite, you will leave the course with 2/3 birchwood boards including a sample board.  All materials including free use of R&F encaustic bars and pigments are included in the price.  Light lunch is provided - usually homemade soup and bread!.

    This is a very intensive private one on one workshop suitable for practising artists, photographers and beginners.
