  1. New classes begin in October for one on one intensive encaustic and mixed media workshops,  you will learn how to apply hot molten wax and you will learn how to fuse the many layers required before the creative process can begin, you will learn which supports and grounds to use, materials and equipment required for encaustic painting, we will cover the following techniques - incising, embedding, how to create texture, how to use transfers and orginal drawings with encaustic, collage, printmaking, we will also cover the basic techniques used with photo-encaustic along with many other technqiues and methods using mixed media such as charcoal and graphite, you will leave the course with 2/3 birchwood boards including a sample board.  All materials including free use of R&F encaustic bars and pigments are included in the price.  Light lunch is provided - usually homemade soup and bread!.

    This is a very intensive private one on one workshop suitable for practising artists, photographers and beginners.

Now taking bookings for August and September only - if you would like to book a Contemporary Encaustic Workshop and learn to paint using bees wax combined with pigments or perhaps you would like to learn how to use your digital images/photographs and embed them into hot molten wax, I am offering a special Summer discount for July and August only, at a discounted rate per person at  £120.00pp , minimum two persons, please contact via email to arrange a booking  This workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as artists and photographers who wish to learn a new technique to enhance their current work.  I have taught many artists here in the UK as well as Australia, South Africa, Italy, Norway and Sweden.

Summer has arrived!, I still have some dates available for July workshops if you are wanting to learn how to paint with bees wax and resin using heat guns and blow torches, learn how to apply the bees wax using brushes and heat which is then fused onto birch wood board, you will be shown how to combine mixed media such as charcoal, grahite and pigments to create your own work of art.

    Come and be inspired by the wonderful Jurassic coastline in Dorset and spend a few days visiting Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Seaton, Axminster, Branscombe and Beer, all within a 10/15 minutes drive or why not visit the lovely Town of Bridport & West Bay all a very short distance away. Dont forget to bring your camera!.

I have spent two exciting days at Dawn's studio where she showed me firstly the basics of working with encaustic and then on the second day I was able to try it out by myself.  Her knowledge of the mediu is unbelievable and she never held back with suggestions and ideas.  We also had delicious lunches in her lovely garden.  I can't wait to go back and learn some more. But for now i'm happy to explore and learn.  So get your travel tickets and join this amazing and lovely lady for an creative experience.  Thank you Dawn, it's sad we are not closer.

Artists, Photographers, Printmakers and beginners come and learn the art of working with hot molten wax - learn something new, learn how to combine your current work using wax, pigments and mixed media.  Encaustic Wax is an ancient Greek technique dating back to 800BC and now being used in a modern and contemporary way.  I have taught many artists & photographers as well as complete beginners here in the UK and abroad including Australia, South Africa & Norway, I have worked with encaustic wax for almost ten years and continue to explore and experiment with this wonderful media - come along and be inspired!.

    I will be teaching new classes every Wednesday from 1pm until 4pm for those wishing to have a taster session and to explore this exciting and versatile medium.  Classes will begin in May 2017 from my new Garden Studio near Lyme Regis, famous for its Jurassic coastline, come and be inspired, why not bring your partner, husband or friend along to stay with you and explore the wonderful Devon/Dorset coastline,  relax at one of the many cafes and bars along the famous Cobb or visit nearby Charmouth or Seaton, there are so many beautiful beaches here it would be silly not too.  For those local to Lyme Regis and the surrounding area there will be small group classes every fortnight for those who do not want to set up there own Studio space but would just like to meet up, be inspired and create some beautiful artwork!.

    Boookings for May are now being taken - Maximum 4 to ensure each person has individual tuition.   This class is suitable for complete beginners and artists.  Other classes are availalbe which may be suited to those who may have worked with encaustic previously but wish to explore the medium further, combining other media such as clay, collage, printmaking and textiles.  One on One tuition is available througout the year, please view the workshop page or contact me directly it would be lovely to hear from you, I am always happy to answer any questions you may have.
