  1. Artists, Photographers, Printmakers and beginners come and learn the art of working with hot molten wax - learn something new, learn how to combine your current work using wax, pigments and mixed media.  Encaustic Wax is an ancient Greek technique dating back to 800BC and now being used in a modern and contemporary way.  I have taught many artists & photographers as well as complete beginners here in the UK and abroad including Australia, South Africa & Norway, I have worked with encaustic wax for almost ten years and continue to explore and experiment with this wonderful media - come along and be inspired!.

I will be teaching new classes every Wednesday from 1pm until 4pm for those wishing to have a taster session and to explore this exciting and versatile medium.  Classes will begin in May 2017 from my new Garden Studio near Lyme Regis, famous for its Jurassic coastline, come and be inspired, why not bring your partner, husband or friend along to stay with you and explore the wonderful Devon/Dorset coastline,  relax at one of the many cafes and bars along the famous Cobb or visit nearby Charmouth or Seaton, there are so many beautiful beaches here it would be silly not too.  For those local to Lyme Regis and the surrounding area there will be small group classes every fortnight for those who do not want to set up there own Studio space but would just like to meet up, be inspired and create some beautiful artwork!.

Boookings for May are now being taken - Maximum 4 to ensure each person has individual tuition.   This class is suitable for complete beginners and artists.  Other classes are availalbe which may be suited to those who may have worked with encaustic previously but wish to explore the medium further, combining other media such as clay, collage, printmaking and textiles.  One on One tuition is available througout the year, please view the workshop page or contact me directly [email protected] it would be lovely to hear from you, I am always happy to answer any questions you may have.

    Happy Painting!.

Here is a lovely review I received this week -

I thoroughly enjoyed my two days of Encaustic training with Dawn in her lovely home and studio.  I don't have an artistic background and only knew a little bit about encaustic photography and art, but with Dawn's patient and knowledgeable teaching by the end of the two days I had produced some work I was really pleased with, and I will definitely carry on experimenting with all the methods she showed me.

Dawn was so friendly and welcoming, and really enthusiastic about her subject which was very inspiring.

    Thank you Dawn !

  6. A lovely testimonial received from one of my recent photo-encaustic workshops............

I discovered Dawn's course after spending a few weeks doing a thorough search online for photographic encaustic workshops in the UK.

After reading a few reviews and communicating with Dawn to agree some dates, I was all set for the August summer holiday.  Reviewing my options, I decided to do two full intensive days with Dawn.  The idea was to cover the basics and techniques on the first day and then to finish on the photographic image transfer process on the second day.  I was never really satisfied with trying to learn from videos and various online sources, and before investing in materials and encaustic equipment I definitely felt it well worth the time and effort to receive practical lessons from Dawn.  I highly recommend the course.  Dawn is super friendly, a great conversationalist and makes a great lunch!.  You'll have a great couple of days learning from her.
